What do you spend on food for a week?

Quote:
my husband deer hunts and squirrel hunts.

but one day he came home with a squirrel, he had tried to avoid hitting it but the dumb squirrel ran back towards his truck and well he got hit! so hubby brought it home and cleaned it and put it in the fridge!

we had a coon that had killed 5 pullet red stars. my husband finally got the coon and went to clean it and it was infested with worms!!! mind you this was like 12 midnight and he is waking me up saying come look! i said no way and i would not eat the coon even if it did not have worms. a squirrel is bad enough!

hubby does not believe in killing something then not eating it.

We have a dollar section at our store...I always head over their first! What we spend depends on what is coming in. My daughter laughs at how far I can stretch $, but I figure there isnt a lot of choices right now!

wow you guys put me to shame. for me and my husband, 2 cats, 6 chickens and three goats, paper products and toiletries included, i probably spend $700 a month. crap. thats a lot.

Okay I called and got all the info for angel food ministries!!! I'm going tomorrow to pay for my first order. I hope it works out!!! It would really help with our budget.

We have a Dollar Tree store and sometimes they have good stuff, but not usually. We have to rely on sales. And last night, for the first time, our kids and their friends ate the leftovers!

On off months we spend about $450.00 per month. On training months, I spend about $600.00 per month for 3 adults and 1 child in the household.

That is a bit high but DH and I have very strict eating regiments as we are both weightlifters and bodybuilding, so we spend a bit more to eat 5 (for him) and 7 (for me) meals per day. Crazy I know, but it will take me a year to put on 20 lbs. grrrrr.

Our family of 4 spends about 400.00 a month. I love shopping with coupons! I have not paid for toothpaste/toothbrushes for about 3 years now and have quite a stockpile. Cereal is less than 2.00 a box and many times can be found for around a dollar. Just be careful not to buys things you were not planning to buy unless they are free or you got paid to buy them! I love this website for finding the deals and coupons at different stores! Great resource for those clearence shoppers!

Living here on the coast, we have access to fresh seafood (freshwater/saltwater fish, shrimp, crab, oysters) that we catch ourselves, and we hunt squirrel, wild duck, wild hogs & deer. We don't eat raccoon or possum, but if we trap any with the live traps that are trying to kill our chickens during the cold months, we give them to those who do eat them. We have neighbors who prefer coon or possum over a beef roast.

We also have two large gardens each summer and fall, so I put up alot in the freezer. I buy paper, laundry & cleaning products on sale. I sell my eggs to neighbors and use the egg money to buy laying pellets and scratch feed. My bantams are free range, so I may throw them a little scratch now and then.

I guess I spend $70 a week at the store.

Oh goodness.... what a sad thought right now.

With hubby laid off I have to cut back now MORE then ever. AND I'm a penny pincher to start with!

Clip coupons EVERY sunday and I also hit which ever store does double coupons first, then the sale items at another store with my coupons that match the sale, then Walmart for everything else (except fruits and veggie I prefer from the stand)

ALL these places are on the same block, and the stand is the 2nd light on the way home from these places, so no extra gas.

Lets just say I spend about $50-75 a week, as I usually get enough done for a family of 3 for 2 weeks at a time for around $100+.

Though it illegal, my sister has food stamps and gets $550 a month for her family of 3. She takes me shopping now and gives me $200 a month for my family now we've been hit with hard times.

Like others, I have no car notes (all paid off) and no credit card debit. Just a mortgage and household bills. AND Chickens!!!! LOL
