What do you think he is?

I bought this little guy and a few others from a local co op. Any idea what he is?

It's hard to tell as you would need to post a full body shot, but from the spots on the head/bill it looks like it may ba an ancona

The spot on its head makes me think magpie but without a body shot its hard to say for sure as it could just be an Ancona.

Oh good for you, we hear so many times about duckling by them selves and it's so much better to have more than one. It sure is a cutie. and

I believe he may be a Magpie.
Here's one of mine (Black Magpie), about the same age as, maybe just a bit older than, yours:

Sweet. Yours looks a bunch older or at least bigger. There isn't a whole lot of info on magpies, do they fly? Are they friendly, how are they at bug control? Ohand in case you were interested, I got two cayugas and a Perkin ( not my choice on the Perkin) to go with him. I was really looking for runners but they didn't have any

I agree there seems to be a lack of information on them. They don't fly as they are domestic. Like with all breeds their friendly ness depends on the individual duck and how much time the owner takes to train it to be friendly. From my understanding they are just as good as any other breed on keeping the bugs down. You will love the cayugas colors once they start feathering in.
