Annnd i have a couple pics in my album that i DO NOT want want made public...
How do i delete just those pics and not the whole album?

Please, don't leave! Everyone, give it a bit more time. When I first came over here to test things out, it was so different and took a lot of getting used to. But after a while, bouncing back and forth between here and the old BYC, I found myself wishing for so many of the features over here.

Part of the slowness may be the version of you browser. Check to make sure you have the latest update.
Internet Explorer - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/...ocid=ie9_WOL_Google&WT.srch=1&mtag=SearGoogle
Firefox - http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
Chrome - https://www.google.com/chrome?&brand=CHMB&utm_campaign=en&utm_source=en-ha-na-us-sk&utm_medium=ha

Having features is fine IF your computer hardware can handle them. Not all of us have super-speedy comptuers or are on super-speedy networks or have tons of RAM.

I can't upgrade my browser. If I do, the software I use for my job will not work. I think a lot of people are experiencing that. Also, some of us have 2 and 3 and 4 year-old computers that just don't have the guts that ther new ones do. I don't think a lot of thought went into what the members are using for hardware before doing this upgrade. Like Mahonri and others, I am going to be here much less frequently and doing a lot less on the site.

Anybody been to Happy Hen House (an alterative chicken forum)? I was there a couple of times last year... it's a lot simpler to use than this! (But not as much fun as BYC people LOL.)

And I agree... I see no reason now to upgrade to a Platinum membership. If it's still this slow come July when it's time for us to re-up our GFM, probably won't be doing that, either.

I am practically in tears over this... BYC will probably not even be part of my daily routine before too long. It's UNUSABLY slow.

Elevan, do you know the answer?

I really wish I did...cause I'd like to permanently delete a few myself. I'll try to figure it out and keep you posted if I can.

I guess I didn't realize that the My page was disappearing.

Can any of the staff or moderators send me a photo shoot of my page. It was a very brief narrative and photos on our shipping eggs process Please.

I described how we wrapped eggs in there and it was helpful for others shipping eggs....It was an easy way to see how we did that - complete with brief narrative and photos. I shared it with a lot of members who shipped and also listed it in my listings....

I will just make it another documents and try to attach content to interested folks..

I would appreciate it!

I'm in awe of the fact that a lot of my privacy is being invaded with open photo albums...I don't like "Follow member" options at all...I don't like the spell check that everyone is speaking of...
I did finally go to IT to have my browser upgraded to Chrome as I need permission. Otherwise, I would never get on here because of the time it takes to do things on my original browser..I understand the need for change but this has turned out to be a drastic drastic change...

I do like the pm service and the conversations...I do like knowing who is on the threads lurking-like the swaps..lol...I don't know if I will like the auctions and how they will work... I was thrilled when it was upgraded before now it feels like it will take a huge step back...I only wish I could have stayed on when you has asked me to play in the sandbox...Maybe I wouldn't be feeling so sad...

Everyone has the option of making every photo private- all of your photos from the Old BYC are in an album called Uploads and those are private to you unless you make them public. Likewise, all new photos will be in an album called Default, which you can make private or public, per photo.

It's a good thing!!!

You can have more than one browser on any computer. You can download Chrome and have blazing fast BYC and still use your old browser to do your work. They aren't mutually exclusive!

Also, a TON of thought went into the hardware and browsers folks use. Lots of testing, too. It's unfortunate, but at some point, staying with old stuff causes lots of instability, and just because it wasn't visible to BYCers doesn't mean it wouldn't affect or crash the site in the future, as the internet evolved around an archaic platform.

Change is difficult, but in small bites, it can be doable. I encourage everyone to download Chrome, even if it's just to use for BYC, then as you get used to it, you can transition over. It's not at all advisable to leave your old browser alone and not update it- in fact, you may have drag associated with malware running in the background, as that is the first symptom of an old browser being in use: infection.

C'mon folks! We can do this! It's a fine change and you'll enjoy the new BYC more if you open up a little to the big improvements and don't focus on the changes being negative!

If you can't upgrade your browser, consider adding another to browse BYC. Chrome doesn't use much space or stuff on your computer and it's the fastest browser for this platform. I currently have Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Maxthon browsers all downloaded on my computer...and no it's not a supercharged computer.

To download Chrome click here

If you wish a pic to be private just don't save it to an album when you upload.

Essentially all of your pics were able to be commented on before - when you posted them

So is my album now public or not?? I's confused..
If soo, i NEED to delete a couple pics, but i do NOT want to lose my other ones in the album...

I just compared Facebooks white to craigslists white and to ebays white-- On my Monitor BYCs was the least birght white of them all. I can see the gray signature lines perfect as well.....
but i dont have any "conditions" and I have 20/20...

maybe the headaches are from the stress of learning to navigate a new style forum?

Just a thought....

I didn't say to compare to this forum to those web sites, I was quite clearly referring to the sister site BackYardHerds and another chicken forum, ChickenCrossing. Those web sites clearly are easier on the eyes. I don't have a problem with the forum posts but I am talking about the main forum and sub forum pages, you know, the places that lists the threads? You generally have to go to them first in order to enter a thread to look at the posts.

I don't know if you're being passive aggressive when you refer to some of us with our "conditions" being in quotes, as if you're doubting that some of us actually have problems and you're making fun of us at our expense.

I've been on numerous web sites that have been through change, I'm not opposed to change and can adapt to it. It's the brightness on the main forum and sub forum pages I cannot. People who are prone to migraines can easily be set off by things such as brightness. I am prone to migraines as my father's side of the family has that issue, plus due to a couple of other medical conditions that I have. Please do some research on migraines and perhaps you'll understand better.
