What do you think of the new BYC platform?

Why should we change all our things just for BYC? The font is to small, the site looks cluttered, it runs so freaking slow. I'm getting a terrible headache. I thought i would love this .. well I don't. The worst thing for me though is how slow it is. I have tried every browser avalible, still slow. I cant use it on my phone now, and i have a really up to date iphone4.

I think the new site's ok, although I was very happy with the old one and especially the auctions....I havent had any trouble with speed issues, the pages load fine and I havent gotten any error messages. I have a 4yr old computer and Im not on hi speed internet, I have to use an aircard where I live, so its not that. Im using the latest Firefox browser. I feel bad for those on dial up, it seems these days ppl assume everyone has unlimited super high speed internet and skype...and a LOT of ppl dont, especially on a site like this where a lot of ppl live in rural areas where its not available yet.
So, although Im not having any issues other than the auctions, and hey whats up with the public albums??? It seems from what Im reading that most ppl are not happy with the performance and features of this new site.

My gold feather membership appears to have disappeared too, and I just got it last month.

I love the changes to BYC, many cool options, and it does look nice. I DO appreciate all the hard work and planning that went in to it.

That said, I live in a remote area where high speed internet is not an option - really, it's not. We did get cellular internet, which gives a decent speed, but even at work where I have high speed, this is very difficult to use. I can't leave comments to pages, I just get the little moving bars like it's trying to load the comments. Same with when I scroll over forums, I get no dropdown, it just tries to load. I cannot view a lot of pictures for some reason. I just get a red X, but others can view them. The speed of this is a major obstacle. I guess I wasn't around when that survey took place, but like I said, it's very challanging on my work computer and my phone. Overall it's difficult to use.

I am certain these things are being worked on, and I don't want to be a big complainer. I am stating this because unless helpful criticism is given, we cannot make this better. I feel that people may leave BYC if it is this challanging for everyone to use. If it loads better and operates as it is intended, these options and this new look will make BYC AMAZING!!!

X2... I live way out in the boonies and I have NO OTHER OPTIONS for internet. I get a certain amount of uploads and downloads per day and one speed; slow. Not everyone has chrome or all those other high tech new things today. I am having trouble just scrolling down the page smoothly.

I just NOW (4:20 PM) got email notification that I had a PM........... from 8:46 AM this morning. Yeah, that's "immediate" notification............

I agree with Kathy and Dar, not very user friendly. Downloading all that jazz (Chrome, Firefox and etc.) worthless to my laptop or hubby's computer. We are fine on the speed and load up in what we have from Microsoft. No one should be downloading things, really to access to a site. IMO! It should work for ALL forums and media wherever we go except if you are downloading movies or music.

I will be spending less time in here...it hits me good in the sinus and already have a headache from half an hour reading. Its just too much! However I will be patient!

I agree with all of the downloads just to access BYC. I had to down Chrome to relieve my headache from the slow pace that it was taking to access BYC. Now I have 2 browsers! I can't delete the other browser because it's a work brower, so when the PM notifications come to my email and I click on, I have to then go to the Chrome browser to read the post for the faster speed. I'm tired. =( It's too much for me.

I was so hoping for a better outcome.

But, those of us who stay will get used to it and miss those that go.

New folk who join will never know the difference. Right?

I really do miss the personal pages, the quick links to PM them, e-mail them, their websites etc...

I'll never get over the auctions being gone. I think that's just a shame. I know a lot of folk who became Platinum, simply for that reason (ability to post multiple auctions) and now that's gone.

Wish I could seee a reason to renew platinum now but I can't.

Here's hoping that after all of the bugs are removed that Nifty and the 'engineers' will find a way to add back some of the things that we grew fond of over the years.

It only took me 6 hours to get 130 notifications all at one time!!!!!! And that doesn't include the threads subscriptions that were not brought over from the old forum. Still waiting on them.

My notifications were not working earlier but they have since started coming in.
And my subcsriptions came later..I thought they were lost too.

Your GFM is there. Speed is top priority on the to do list.

I was hoping the same thing. It just seems to me that there are way too many "bugs." Why even use a buggy platform before all those things are fixed?

I will not renew my membership.
