the reason this was needed was because we were taking up to much space right?... well why not delete crap that does not need to be there.. when someone has not posted in 5+ years bye-bye.. old locked posts... the games section is way out of control .. old threads that have not been used in 5 years bye bye....

I am sure there were more reasons but this is just crap!

x2, I never understood why old topics or locked threads weren't removed. :/ Don't fix something that isn't broken.

Go to the top bar, hover over Forum, and on the dropdown is another row of post related things. "I've Posted" shows all of the threads you've posted in.

Nifty is well aware that auctions are something many people will miss, and is doing what he can to make them happen again. We'd even talked in the sandbox about how a workaround would be available, for this reason. A poll would not give him any new information.

Polls are easy enough. You just use the full page editor, which is in the reply box.

Please be specific about issues. Just general complaining isn't going to help Nifty and the tech crew solve anything. This is the new house so we need to learn where all the light switches are and which way the doors open on the closets. That may take some getting used to and Rome wasn't built in a day. This is the new house, for better or worse, though, and BYC isn't going back to the old one. Don't frustrate yourself, just try to learn all the quirks of the new place at a leisurely pace and the tech crew will try to have any bugs worked out as soon as possible.

Thanks, I really feel for you guys. (but sorry I was repeating myself with the issues I was having posting) I can imagine Nifty hasn't had much sleep with all this going on! My husband is a software program developer, and I know how things don't go as planned.

It's sad to see everyone here getting grumpy, when we need to give it a chance. I am seeing improvement already!

I believe right now it's set to GFM's and PPM's having that ability.  You go to your profile, click edit account details then select Hide right column in forum threads.

Again GFMs cant remove the sidebar.

You know what? I'm actually beginning to get used to it already. Having a post and a chat on the threads I usually go on makes it feel more like same people, different look instead of an entirely new site.

Oh, and now that the forums aren't telling me I've written nothing in the comment boxes whenever I try to submit (that was SO frustrating!) I'm starting to find navigating the site easier too.

(One thing I miss though is being able to just type in "" or "" and get the smiley, now I actually have to search around with my mouse, lol.)

Exactly. I don't want to seem like a kiss arse, but aren't the mods volunteers? I could be wrong. I'm not crazy about some of the stuff on here either, but I am really surprised by the outright negativity. Yeah, change sucks. Yeah, I liked the old site better, but it has already been posted numerous times that the upgrade was inevitable. Give it some time. Everything stinks when we are not familiar with it. Think about when you first learned how to use a computer. (unless of course you are young enough to have had them in Kindergarten. ) Please be patient. Earth wasn't formed in a day, so they say.
