Woo hoo!! okay I am happy now! The thing I most disliked is not seeing the most recent posts...I always went there when ever I got on BYC and the new layout was so FAT looking but I found the same thing under the home tab and scroll a tiny bit Voila! there it is and the review stuff is not on the right! That annoyed me much. The stuff on the right on this page is not annoying.
It's called recent byc activity and you need to unclick the subscribed blue block button.

Quote: It was broken. That was the whole point. It hadn't fully crashed yet, but.... Anyone who was on here much knows how things would suddenly get very slow, or the whole site would just shut down. We were simply way too big for the platform.

The kind of cleaning out you're talking about was being done -- or at least, what could be done that would usefully reduce the amount of data without removing valuable information, or taking a huge amount of time to remove a small amount of data. Many old topics contain valuable info. It's not unusual to see a new post in a thread that hadn't had a post for a couple of years, with good reason. Just as a for example.

By the way, if I'm not mistaken, this forum just became 5 years old, I believe on the day of the conversion.

The only way I can get it to work is on IE9. It's slow but livable.

I so wish I could use it on Rockmelt.

Oh well.

At the moment, I'm not liking it at all, but in all fairness its new and Im not good with changes. Seems like there is alot of clutter especially on the side bar, and its hard to read too with all the white on white makes it hard for my old eyes to see. I guess its going to just take time to find all my usual threads. My eyes are already watering up and head is hurting so better get off of here for a while. Sandy

I thought you said you were using the new platform on Rockmelt before. There are certainly still bugs. Now, this accessibility stuff is way over my head, but I wouldn't give up yet.

Sorry, I closed this thread and the poll. This is not the place for a this kind of discusson

As always we appreciate constructive feedback, but to heap abuse after abuse on a system change that was months in the planning, with all the pros an cons weighed and discussed thoroughly, with the amount of sleepless nights and a change that was much needed, is just too much.

We appreciate everyone's feedback, but I completely agree with Terrie. We need to balance what is helpful feedback that will enable us to move forward vs. negativity that will frustrate our wonderful team of volunteers and upset the community even more than a big move naturally does.

Please keep in mind that we're as anxious to get things fixed as quickly as you are... in fact, probably more so. Keep in mind our staff are collectively here more often and posting more frequently than anybody.

We hear your concerns and issues LOUD AND CLEAR! When we converted the site 5 years ago to the old platform, we had the same reaction, but look how well everyone took to it over the years!

Give us a week or so to work through as many kinks as we can. We've still got a lot to do and we need your help and patience as we work through everything!
