What do you think of Tractor Supply’s new chick bins?

I noticed the new bins too...

But my problem with TSC is still the same...most that are working there have no idea what they have. There is no guarantee that what you are buying is what you will actually get. They are just sales people moving product. They can miss label, miss place, mix up, whatever. Not intentional but they have no clue what they are looking at.

If you don't care as long as it lays eggs then fine.

I always go to the local feed store first. Prices are just about the same and the ladies that work there are the same every day, every week, every year. They are not chain store employees constantly flipping over. They know their birds and know what exactly they are giving the customer. Better variety too. I want specific breeds since mine are as much for backyard decoration as for eggs.
Unfortunately, my local feed store has VERY limited variety in chicks. Pretty much you need to be looking for a meat bird or an egg bird. Not any that are just cute or lay interesting eggs.... But I do buy my feed and most other supplies at the local store. It's great when people know you and what you need before you even have to say it.

After seeing you post just now I went to the website and bought a 3rd one... before reading they had cancelled your order. It let me order it and I got the email saying it would ship within 10 days... fingers crossed.
NOOOOOOO!! If it ships- you got MINE!!! :barnie

Actually, you will be lucky if it ships. I wonder if it has to do with geographic location. If you are so lucky as to get a third one, maybe I should get you to use your luck and order one for me. 😂 Except that I bet shipping cost for you to send it to me would be a deal breaker. Oh well. I guess I will just keep checking the website. Maybe one of these times it will work.

I was lucky enough to get my first 2 in store... not my local store... but about 2 hours away. I called my local store and they looked up the closest ones to me. Called that store explained the situation and they held them for me until I could get there 2 days later.
No cancellation email yet.... and hopefully there won't be one. I really need a 3rd one to separate out hatches. 6 would be perfect... But not sure husband would allow that many in the living room.
He does prefer these over the clear plastic totes I was using.... Only because they learn to fly out way to quick.... and for some reason he doesn't like chicken poop (even cute little fluffy baby chick poop) on his hardwood floors... something about it will mess them up or something silly. I love being able to watch them play (clear totes are awesome for that) the feeders are to tall to see the chicks well in these brooders unless they are on top of the heater. I told him a couple nights ago I need them all to play on top of the heaters so I can see them better when I am home.

The new chick bins are junk ! They pulled the from our tractor supply because they were JUNK ! and further more I was in tractor supply 30 Min. ago and went to ask the manager about getting me some Ducks and she told me a big fat NO . She said she wouldn't sell me anything because yesterday they had 250 Chicks come in Dead and Dying from unknown cause all but 13 died and the rest were on their way . She did not want us taking anything home as far as diseases . They don't know what happened yet ! I don't know if it was the cold snap or disease . She said they would curl their Necks down and then all the way back curled up backwards then die . She asked me if I might know what went wrong . I haven't seen anything like that maybe someone here has . Let me know if you have .

It's a mix of shipping stress from longer ship times and some hatcheries have had a coccidiosis problem apparently

That could very well be it dropped to 18 F here last night . I think it may have ruined my Swans eggs . I just hope it's nothing other then what you said .
