I have the Zip wing bands on my seven birds and think I'll add adjustable leg bands for an easier ID; those wing bands are pretty hard to read on a fully feathered bird. Additionally, I'm stamping the year into my leg band for an easier time aging.

I'm thinking of using toe punches or different band colors once I add more "families" to my breeding program.

Out of curiosity, what method (if any) do you use?

I am able to tell almost all my chickens apart without putting anything on them. I recommend leg bands or slightly loose zip ties if you really want to have something to tell your chickens apart.

I assume you have all the same breed, or a couple of breeds?

I have a mixed flock so the birds all look different so I can ID them even from a distance. I can even ID them from sound or behavior without turning around.

Yes. I'm raising Partridge Plymouth Rocks as dual purpose birds and plan to be pretty serious with my breeding. There isn't very much variation in plumage among the girls and personalities are just starting to really show.
