What do you use to store your feed bags in?

Plastic storage bins. I like the kind with the handles that snap onto the lid to keep it on. I also keep them outside the coop in the secured run and haven’t had any issues with rodents or other pests trying to get in. Keeps the chickens out of the treats too.

Metal trash cans or metal 55 gallon barrels are the best. Rats can chew through just about everything else. Should be easy enough to keep a coon out of a shed. The metal clamp rings are a paint to put on and take off so if you can't fence out the larger critters, put a ten pound weight on top.
Thank you! That makes sense, I hadn't thought about them not being able to chew through the metal!

We started out weighing the top down with a cinder block but over time don't even bother. Unless we have reason we normally don't even bother. If you don't have the barrels side by side so a critter can stand on one to pop the lid on another they are forced to stand on the one and try to lift them self up with the lid and it doesn't work well.

Years ago I started to put a hinge and latch on the barrels we use but noticed just didn't need it and never think about it when the barrel is empty enough to move by my welder.

I have a Vittles Vault, I'm pretty sure the 40# size, that we had on hand. It holds 50# of chicken feed, at least the small crumble kind(Purina Flock Raiser is what I have in there right now).

I've also stored feed/scratch/wild birdseed and many other commonly used bagged items here on the farm, in old Tidy Cats buckets...They make excellent laying buckets too. Mice haven't chewed through any of them yet, so I'd say they're pretty durable. Probably would need 2 for 50# though.

Plastic tubs for now. I am looking for the old galvanized feed bins that are wall mounted hoppers with the funnel bottom and shut offs. Don't know their proper name. A friend of ours got lucky and bought one at an auction for $10 bucks to hold his horse feed. It looks awesome! I love the rustic patina look and it would get the feed off the ground and away from my dog.

My feed room is in my house. When I used to store it outside, I used the thick rubber feed containers that looked like trash cans.

I have a friend that modifies old non-working chest freezers into feed bins. They work great!

We incorporated a storage shelf in our coop build. I have sealed tight totes that I keep the food in. Both totes will home one large bag of crumble.

U can see it on the right.
