Just a thought, I do enjoy reading all the posts, but so many of them are just social comments eg. congratulations , like your pics, etc. Any chance there could be a different type of 'new post' indicator, that shows the one (or two) liners? That would save me at least an hour in the day

This forum looks a lot like Discuss Cooking but it is missing some of the things that wonderful site has.

Changing of color of a post that has been read is so important and should not be schluffed off as 'undoable.' When I get frustrated w/ reading the same thing twice I stop using the site for a week until all new posts come up. It truly hinders searching not having the color change and no, it is not ever a problem when I revisit a thread I've read. Please look at Discuss Cooking. It works SO well.

PMs are great.

Discuss Cooking not only tells how many were online, it tells who is online at that moment.

The other thing that site does (and this may not be possible b/c it has more administrators) is to combine posts in a single thread if the topic is the same. So many folks have the same Qs it makes sense to combine the Qs and As.

Other than that this site is amazing!

Somebody might have already said this, but I'd like to see "photo" icons when messages contain photos. This serves 2 purposes: people with slow connections are forewaqrned, and people LOOKING for photos are clued in. I've been looking for photos in the coop section lately and had to open every post to check.

Please forgive me if this has already come up but....I would love to see something under the "pic of the week" stating what breed of chicken and who submitted the photo. The photo right now is so cute and I would love to know what kind of chicken that is and maybe it's age, etc.

SeaChick, unfortunately that won't work because we don't scan the posts for pictures and since people can host pictures in so many places it would be impossible to scan for all the different picture hosting sites within each post. It's a great idea though.

how bout a sticky or special place that is locked for the inevitable "dog" discussions? Maybe a permanent message of some sort with info so newcomers won't fall into the typically declining "the crummy neighbors' dog ate my chickens" thread. I am only saying that because it is such a heated topic and soooo easy to get involved in.

Maybe there would be some way to put a sticky on the predators and pests area for rules regarding posts or info on dog attacks?

Not sure if this is what you are looking for with this thread, but it's been on my mind for some time.
