I water with a galvanized tub. Why are those plastic ones hard to use on mine you turn it over and their is a a cap where you put water. How you water with it without flooding the coop?

I hate that $%%# thing to it is the pest and I loose half the water taking it to the coop and if I fill it in the coop I might as well have ducks. Right now I am using just a tub I will probably get a galvanised chicken waterer.

I thought I was going to save a few bucks when my heated bases failed on me this winter and went with that plastic fount. Next year I am going back to my heated steel bases and double wall galvanized founts! Until the bases fail (a few years of use) they work awesome!

Regular ol' buckets.
Fortiflex 8qt buckets from TSC. I'm a huge Fortiflex fan because it doesn't break down in the sun. I don't like replacing stuff, so I buy what lasts.
I had one for the dog, and noticed that the chickens seemed to prefer stealing water from it, so now that's what I use for everyone.

At first I was afraid that they might fall in and drown, but the 8qt size is exactly the right height - even for my 2 month old babies. They just dip their beaks in. I wash them out with a washcloth and put fresh water every few days and otherwise try to maintain a full bucket so that they aren't leaning in to reach the water.
ETA: I have a fence wall in my coop that I use the hooks to hang the bucket handles on as you can see in one pic. That way they don't tip if the rooster decides to stand on the bucket. They generally don't roost on the edges of the buckets, and the water stays pretty clean until it's time to change it.

Those black rubber buckets from TSC and a 5 gallon bucket filled with warm water from inside the house to fill them all up. The black rubber helps keep it from freezing and they are easy to knock the ice out of when they do freeze. I quit using the fount waterers when I couldn't keep them ice free. The black rubber bowls are easy to clean and easy to fill. I'm loving them.

I also use the black rubber ones from TSC. They are FANTASTIC for keeping water unfrozen. I've had water stay unfrozen when the high for the day was only 26 (starting with fresh water in the morning).

I actually bought an 8 gallon galvanized waterer after our chicks got a bit bigger and I dropped the plastic one gallon putting a dent w/ a pin size hole in it. Went big for when we are out of town.

When the temps are above freezing, I use big galvanized waterer or just a couple of smaller plastic ones. During cold weather I don't use the galvanized one, don't want it to freeze and quit holding the seal. I take the plastic ones in each night and back out in the morning. I also have a heated dog bowl that is always full. My chickens don't seem to like it very much though. They will drink from it but prefer the red plastic ones which is why I'll carry them out each day. During the cold weather, they don't get water in the coop at all. They are only in there to sleep and although they drink as soon as they come out around 7 am, I figure waiting til I let them out is not going to hurt them that little amount of time.
