What Do Your Ducks Do in the Snow?

My ducks seem to break their own holes... however, yesterday afternoon I removed the layer of ice that was covering their pool and filled the water to the brim and they jumped right in! The cold really doesn't deter them at all.

Our guys will spend close to an hour in the water even when it's in the teens F or colder. Silly ducks! It got really cold the other night, so even this spot where there is a spring froze solid. They were not getting in any way shape or how until I busted that little hole for them.

Since that last storm, we've been chilly here in Maine, and Duck Landing has frozen over on a couple mornings! They asked and we delivered:

its snowing again! bout 4.5 inches and still coming down and the girls been out all day and I still have running water (duck pen downhill from the house, so all I gotta do is make the end of the hose in the lowest part and it empties itself) which is a wonderful blessing.
anyway, while I was out filling the pools I saw one of my appleyards acting like a penguin!! she was flopped on her belly and pushing herself along with her legs. it was the funniest thing I seen all day! wish I had a video camera on hand but I didnt. maybe she'll do it again later. just thought Id share

Hello,
My ducks decided to stay home when they didnt like the conditions. I brought them warm water with mealworms. Kept them busy and even ducks like warm baths!

Hahaha, I live on the river and there's tons of river ducks that solicite me for food. They come up my river bank and slide on their tummies back down. Omg it makes me giggle Everytime. You can tell mine are the bigger ones...

I know, it reminds me of a cute little influenza virus working it's way though the body of Mother nature....

And it has been too soon after our last snow event to see fresh snow......
