What Does everyone think about Silkies?

Love my Silkies...Not real crazy about the show girls tho. I made a deal with my DW when I started raising poultry....( NO Naked necks!) I think They'd just get frost bite here anyways.

I like silkies because they are different. And they are fuzzy, and small lol. I like them because they let you hold them and pet them. lol.

I think silkies are precious but probably too fragile for me right now. I hope to have an appropriate set up for them by spring.
EDTA: Showgirls always make me think of Phyllis Diller. lol

The hens I don't mind. All three are currently raising 9 chicks together... it's my rooster I'm not too thrilled about. Yea, he may be cuddly and let you hold him, but he is one big COWARD! Jeez... not an ounce of testosterone in him.. Yet 8 of the chicks being raised were sired by HIM!

I am the BIGGEST FAN of showgirls and silkies. My partridge hen finally has 6 babies of her own we are selling the rest.

I just got my first silkies a couple of weeks ago, I never liked them before, but now that I have them, I LOVE THEM!! Well, all but one, but she's just here to be a breathing incubator. My lavender waits for me to open the gate, and then just sits at my feet and waits for me to pick her up, and my chicks love to perch on my shoulder!

I LOVE mine! Silkies and showgirls......so friendly, quiet and personable.

I have other breeds also.....all bantams. I find the silkies and showgirls to be overal the friendliest. I do have others that are, but as a whole they are wonderful. I am waiting on pins and needles for my silkie and showgirl eggs to hatch friday.
