Do you cover your wire with anything when you go into lock down?I have used paper towels but I can`t keep the humidity up with that covering the wire,I have also used cheese cloth but one chick got its toenail caught in it,How many just use the wire with nothing on it?

I use shelf liner. It is kinda rubbery and has holes in it so it wont mess up your humidity. Plus it is softer on their bellies where the chick has detached from the egg. Just make sure you use a clean one each time!

I use the rubber shelf liner without holes and bump humidity with sponges soaked with warm water. Works well for me. Couldn't find the liner with holes.
