What does this hen have ?

Her ears look WAY better and her eyes are brighter than they were in the first pics you posted on your blog. Good job!!

It keeps oozing and crudding up because there is a lot in there. I would stop the hydrogen peroxide, however. It will kill good tissue.

She does look much better. I have to say that I have never seen or even invisioned anything like that. I'm glad I learned about this just in case it ever happens to one of mine I could detect it early. Thanks.

UPDATE

The little hen continues to do well. I'm continuing oral oxytetracycline. I use Q-tips to clean the right ear with peroxide and the left with antibiotic ointment. I think the peroxide side is showing a bit of improvement. If I feel the same way tomorrow, I will switch to peroxide on both ears. I'm planning on continuing this until I don't smell infection. I don't think she looks way different yet. I'll try and post another picture in the next few days.

I actually think that she can still hear. I've made noises behind her and she heard it, but with the placement of the chickens eyes it's possible she just saw me. She is getting to really hate peroxide in the ear. I can imagine the bubbling must sound rather loud or feel weird to her.

Thanks everyone for your help and concern.

You may want to add half peroxide, half alcohol...That is what I use for my ear infections:)

Can you see if you can get some dilute chlorhexadine or betadine? Peroxide will kill off healthy tissue and the ear is full of delicate tissue. I strongly urge that the peroxide be discontinued.

I do welcome all of your ideas, but the last two posts seem at odds with each other regarding peroxide.

Should peroxide be used in avian or human ears? Anyone else want to add an opinion?

Also I was wondering if peroxide kills germs, what would alcohol add. Might it not sting if there was a scratch?

Thanks for all you help everyone.
