It's the Gorge!!

Are those christmas trees or an orchard beyond your house there? You went ape on the raised beds, too. No 2x6 piece of lumber is safe.

For anyone not knowing what a fir tree is, they are dark green and you'll notice the driveway leading into them.

We have more beds than that, those are just the ones in the main garden. Beyond the house are cherry orchards. They are everywhere out here.

I do. My grandparents bought the property about 60 years ago when Highway 99, had a grass strip down the middle and was two lanes. Over 60 years, developments and all kinds of other stuff has been built around us, and the schools are no longer a one room school house. Sanctuary in the city for sure, Everett has like 100,000 people in it so it's not like down town Seattle. My dad grew up here and as long as he can pay the taxes, he refuses to leave. We have 40 acres about 30 minutes away that he plans to sell off just so he can live where we are now. Being in the city... taxes alone are like a mortgage!

Andrea, that is one cute fairytale house!

Girl! You got our dream place!

Chelsea, if it makes you feel any better, we rent it. When we moved back to Oregon from Texas, we really lucked into it. The owners of the property are cool, though. They live in Colorado and come out a few times a year. They just put up a BIG yurt on the hillside (where the circle of arborvitae are) and stay for a month each year. Other than that, it is pretty secluded and FUN!

I want those toys! I have a 1965 Massey-Harris Super 92 combine and not even a gravity cart to unload into. But, I'm shooting for 10 acres per year in grain, so it shouldn't be too much work unloading the auger into bags (gonna set up the family in the hay mow with bags for the offload). At 90 bushel hopper, it shouldn't be too bad.

I'm growing oats, winter rye, field peas, buckwheat and then next year some winter wheat and barley. A little bit of everything.

Oh my gosh...back when we first married (35 years ago) we cut wheat & milo with a MH super 92....talk about the machine from hell!!! Especially cutting itchy milo! It was the cause of honestly the only meltdown I've ever seen my brother-in-law have. I thought he was going to have a stroke!! In the years since we've up-graded a couple of times thank goodness.

Hey it cost me $1,000 and was used last year. I also got an entire other combine in parts on about 8 pallets. *lol* It was a great deal.

I want to paint it and put it in the parade this year. I may even turn on the header and cut down all the tourists.

The thing is just a beast. NO electronics. All gears, sprockets, pulleys and belts. I should be able to repair/fabricate or replace anything that goes sideways on it.
