I think the khaki will be fine if you have other bigger breedslots of people told me the khaki would be fine, but she is less than half his size i think
he won’t try to mate with her? i was really hoping to have her hatch out some khaki/pekin mixI think the khaki will be fine if you have other bigger breeds
i was thinking a muscovy, a cayuga, and maybe an ancona. not sure on their size thoughHe will but I was just saying get bigger breeds if you are going to get hens so he won't only have smaller ducks to mate with
Just so you know if you cross a peking with a muscovy they will be "mule" ducks. They will be unable to reproducei was thinking a muscovy, a cayuga, and maybe an ancona. not sure on their size though
I'll ask on the SA pages to which I belong on FB. You are in OK?I really like the looks of silver appleyards I just can't find them anywhere
it would just be kept as a pet, so that would be perfectly fineJust so you know if you cross a peking with a muscovy they will be "mule" ducks. They will be unable to reproduce
i love them, but i cannot find anyone around me who has them (and i don’t like live animals being shipped in the mail)Silver Appleyards are 7 to 10 pounds. ;-)
I have 2 hens and a drake if you would like to add to the flock?next year i am planning to get 1-3 more girl ducks to put in with my pekin drake (i already have two girls) and i want some opinions on breed!
so...
1) temperament - i want friendly ducks, as my ducks are pets and all love to be picked up and carried around the yard. i heard some breeds are more scared of people?
2) broodiness - i want atleast one duck that will go broody and hatch out babies, and so far i have khaki and rouen hens. they aren’t very broody?
3) size - i have a pekin drake, rouen hen, khaki hen, and a khaki drake (he will be kept seperate and get another drake friend). so only the pekin boy will be with the girls
