What foods will harm chickens?

Well I fed mine baby maggots and my chicks LOVED them. And it gave them a real energy boost! They didn't appreciate plain yoghurt until they were about 2 weeks but plain yoghurt is a real treat now in my house! They go MAD over it.
I tend to avoid treats so early on as I was worried about pasty bum and choking. But when they've gone through the delicate stage its so fun to try new treats with them.
Scrambled egg is starting to be another favourite with my 8 week old chickens.

Oh, also, some flying ants flew into their baby box when I first had them and it was amazing to see their instincts kick in. They went from 7 day old delicate babies to strong feisty mini chickens with attitude. Never try and take a away a flying ant from a chick. He he.

Haha! Chicks are scared of new things and don't really eat treats until 2 weeks. LOL when I gave my chicks their first treat the gave me the once up and down. :p

My favorite part about raising up chicks is when they learn what treats are and run around playing the "I got it!" game with all of their siblings chasing after them! I've never laughed so hard! It's too precious.

I have a large quantity of parsnips (I dont know why) can I feed the skins and greens to my chicken? Cooked or uncooked is the real question.

I heard too much bread is bad for the chickens? I agree, because i think their like people, but why is bread a good treat? Just wondering!

To much bread gives them digestive problems like most any other living thing you can give it too. Bread is usually easy to come by, and it is a great way to 'recycle' stale bread. I know it is one of my girls favorite treats!

I was thinking maybe like once a week giving them bread. Just because I know it can be bad for them.
