What foods will harm chickens?

There is no reason not to give lettuce that I know of, unless it's that iceberg lettuce has essentially no nutritional value. Most chickens love greens. Cabbage is fine. Actually, a trick for crowded or bored chickens is to hang a whole cabbage so that it swings a bit when they peck at it.

So maybe not a food persay, but what about morning glories? We were planning on plantint them up the side of the coop to sort of hide it from the neighbor, atleast to try and make his view a bit better, even though he hasnt complained. I am sure some will grow into the coop, and around the building to where they can reach it.. will there be an issue?

x2 I was wondering about jasmine or another name I think is confederate star! I love the idea of growing vines up the side of the coop. I have some jasmine growing on my chain link fence, and it would be perfect for the coop as long as it won't hurt my chickens!

Morning glory is poisonous. It is not something I'd would plant at their run, where they get bored and will peck at anything. Don't think they could get a lethal dose as it grows into reach, but still.

I have a 3 yo silkie and she likes to eat the bits of left over canned cat food that the cat does not finish. How much cat food is too much? She seems healthy although she tends to go broody often and then she eats very little of anything.

something I never see on any "bad foods" list is Canadian peas. 2 years ago I had 3 roos die in a week. I called a local farmer with a lot more experience and he told me to bring one over for an autopsy. it didn't take him to long to find a whole Canadian pea in the esophagus, he told me he used to mix them in his feed to save some cost and had the same problem. at first I wondered where it had came from, as we didn't buy them to mix in our feed, we used layer crumble mixed with corn, black oil sunflower, and some other ingredients. when I got home I started looking in the feed bags, and found the peas in my sunflower seeds. I cant remember the brand name but they came in a red, white and blue bag, and was labeled as sunflower seeds (no peas mentioned).
on another note, as far as I know if the peas are ground they are fine, just dangerous whole.

We/I give our girls watermelon, green leaf and red leaf lettuce, cantaloupe, green and yellow zucchini, seedless grapes, apples, spinach, cucumbers and strawberries. Not crazy about oatmeal or banana's. Heck... I think they eat better than we do.

I was told, by the feed store, to never give them meat. Turns them into carnivores?? IDK, I see people posting on here they feed them meat. Haven't tried it yet, kinda scared too.
