When I get chickens I want to grow a garden for them. Their will be two raised beds in their run with mesh over the soil with lettuce I don't mind them tearing up, but I also want to grow a chicken garden outside their run with berries, fruit, veggies, herbs, anything they would like. I have blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and figs that I could take cuttings from and dig up extra plants from. What else do you suggest? Any poisonous plants I should know about?

Mine like a specific strain of lettuce (Burpee's "Super Fresh" leaf lettuce) but also eat turnips and turnip greens ... although their absolute favorite thing from my garden is tomato hornworms I pull off my mater plants.

Mine LOVE swiss chard, fresh lettuce. They also like strawberries, grapes, grape leaves, comfrey, radish leaves (not the radishes), tomatoes (fruit only, leaves are poisonous), pomegranates, rose of sharon shrubs . They are learning to eat watermelon (the first couple of times I offered it to them, they snubbed it, now they peak at it some.

My chickens don't eat bay tree leaves, olive tree leaves, asparagus or penstemon (Perineal flowers). They ate my kota cola and monkey grass down to nothing but left the penstemon alone. They hang out under the olive tree but don't eat it. They seem to avoid the bay tree. I have a little rose of sharon in the "big" run that I have to put 2 foot fencing around because they kept eating it to nothing. They don't eat apple tree leaves either. I haven't feed them apples, so I don't know about that.

Mineseem to like my rosé of Sharon bush and the sunflower plants I'm trying to grow for them.

They seem to prefer greens over fruits.
