Ok, I gotta know. What is it you're looking at that makes you say boy in the feathers on the day old pic? I've got 6 couple day old supposedly pullets from the feed store in my garage. I want to compare them to your pics, but I'm unsure exactly what you're looking at... I just GOTTA know:bow

It's easy once you get a hang of it. Mistakes are still made occasionally by me sometimes.
Tip: Only Hybrid Chicks can be feather sexed, purebreds cannot.

Here's a diagram to help you understand.

I'm self trained, have been feather sexing for a whole 2yrs now.

So any hybrid or ones specially bred to be sex linked?

This is so interesting. I'm saving this image and going to be looking at this myself now!

Primarily those that are bred to be sex-linked, but I've been practicing feather sexing mixed breeds that people call the unsexable. I found it possible to sex any hybrid chicken as long as you know what to look for.

I've noticed I can usually tell pretty well boys from girls as babies by looking at the size of the legs and feet, as well as the eyes.

This will be wonderful to study!

The “older” brother is already showing that he is a boy. He and His “Sister” were born on the same day. They are only 2.5 weeks old and the boy is already showing really bright red comb and wattles. The 2nd child grew feathers a lot faster than the 3 boys. Plus, it’s the only one that has a mixed comb.

I did have a situation were I had there Grandmother (OEGB Bantam) and another chicken that was the same breed as her. They both mated with the same rooster and the grandmother had two chicks with rose comb and the other had two chicks with single comb. Later in the future. The grandmother had two boys with rose comb and the mother had two girls with single comb.

Now the son, had mates with a single comb female and had
Single- Boy
Rose- IDK.
Single- Boy
Single- Boy

The rose comb chick had a LITTLE redness but it doesn’t have wattles at all. Plus, when I pick it up it gets red tho. When I just look at the chick it looks yellow. It’s wattles are pale white always. So, IDK

Would like to see how they're looking. It'll help with gender identification.
