This is one of our mixed that hatched 4 months ago. This chicken is large so I would suspect a rooster but I have not observed crowing (which does not mean much. I only see them in the morning and evening).
The chicken in question is the lighter brown one in the forefront.

That is funny but tragic at the same time. I keep hitting the rooster lottery.
Last year a friend gave me 19 chicks and only 5 turned out to be girls.
This year I ordered a dozen female Barred Rocks from a hatchery. You can see 3 of these "females" in the background. The hatchery sent me 13 birds. Only 6 are female. The other 7 don't even self identify as female.
At the same time I hatched 10 of my own eggs. The result looks looks to be 1 girl and 9 boys.
What are the odds?

Yeah, he looks like a rooster to me. I’m so sorry! I always seem to have more roosters than hens too. I know it is supposed to be around 50% boys and 50% girls when they are Straight run, but that never seems to be true for me 😅 .

I've heard that as chicks, the males are more friendly so they get grabbed first when they are put in boxes. I don't know if that is true though.
