what gifts are you making this holiday season?

I think handmade gifts are the best. They come from the heart..
I'm making soaps and bath salts and candy...
Thats the extent of my crafty side..

Knit and felted purses for Mom and Sis. Maybe some shawls if I can finish them and of course, the annual sewing of the Christmas jammies for my kids. One year I bought pajamas for them -horrors!!!- and boy did I hear it!

I'm making tote bags for the little kids with homemade crayon rolls, a match game in a drawstring pouch, and a coloring book. The adults are getting home baked goods, or a homemade apron and potholders, or homemade salt scrub, castille soap, and knitted washcloths. My goal is to make most if not all of my gifts this year. I hope I can get it all done in time!

I make calendars for the extended family. They're not "free" but many of the online companies offer specials this time of year and I usually find them for 40% off or so. Plus, if you order multiples of the same calendar, you get them way cheap. I upload photos and find a template that will work, then customize the dates of the year with birthdays, anniversaries etc. I also add dates like the start and end of each school semester for the states that the kids/grandkids live in, and so on. It takes longer to make these than you'd think but they have been highly popular, and I found them to be a great gift for my parents-in-law who already have everything they need (and more - they're trying to downsize) but can always use a current calendar.

I want to find a way to make chicken poop gifts too!

We could always gather enough to make a sculpture, then harden it in the oven and give it a nice glaze.

Last year for presents I made little individual brownies, chocolate chip and whipped shortbread cookies. This year I'm going to make butter pecan tarts, and probably shortbread again. You just can't do Christmas baking without shortbread.

Oooh, maybe I'll make no-bake cookies too. They're so yummy and freeze so nicely!

Thats it! no bake cookies with mini marshmallows! Chicken Poop!

That is an awesome idea and timely, too. I bought a bunch of yarn last week to teach myself how to knit. Will definitely do this!! Thanks for the great idea.
