My goals are to raise my four great children, and hopefully adopt one more. I want to raise my children knowing that their heavenly father loves them unconditionally. I want to raise them knowing what hard work is and not what a video game is. I want to raise my kids to have compassion for all living things, not only people. I want my kids to be responsible for their actions in this world, both good and bad. I want my kids to learn to be as self-reliant as possible. I want to raise my kids knowing that a family is the most important thing in life.

Okay, on the farm side........I want a few different coops so I can keep my different breeds apart. I want a pony. I want to find a girlfriend for my male pig who is sooooo lonely. I want a barn with a milking room for my goats. I want to find the cure for my diabetes so I can be with my kids and husband longer. I want to be as healthy as possible until I find that cure.

Last but not least....... I want a HUGE garden so I can take my produce to the farmers market next year.

We just re-did our kitchen to the studs like you are doing re-did electrical and all. I had only three outlet in my kitchen fridge and stove took two of them!!

Also check into a place called Direct Buy you can find it online. You join it and get AWESOME discounts on cabinets and such.

I am not sure how much of your house you are doing. It is one of those places that if you are going to be doing alot of household improvments it is worth it. I bought my cabinets through Home Depot they are Kraft Maid and they were expensive. I have a small kitchen and was shocked by the price!

Raise my daughter to appreciate technology, and simplicity for the joys that both can (and do) bring to our lives (use a calculator but know how to do long division in your head.. Know how to make your own bread and butter, etc.).

Finish my Masters thesis and figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I've recently had a pretty major change in my long-term plans and it's left me somewhat adrift career wise.. I like where I am now and it has great potential, but.. It is also very different from where I thought I'd be by now (PhD'ed faculty at a research institution turning the field of medieval irish archaeology and history studies on it's ear (in a good way)).

Take more time to really sit and appreciate beauty. I have a home that is amazing and it deserves more appreciation then I remember to give it some days (I seriously wouldn't have believed that I would have this home until I was much older, we got really lucky (and have worked really hard, but luck definitely figured into it)).

Take more time to create. I love making bobbin lace and weaving and haven't taken time for either in years.

Find my center again. Find that calm place that used to exist that seems to have gotten buried under bills and "ought to dos" and "have to dos" since college.

Get out of debt!!

We already have our own painting business, but this year has been absolutely terrible.
Our baby started kindergarden this year so if things ever pick back up to "steady" I plan on working more on job sites to save on labor costs.
I have two other kids as well; 1 in middle school and 1 in high school, so if the cost of gas doesn't kill me, maybe I can start accomplishing something.

#2 would be to buy 20 acres of land and build a nice farm house and condo type coops.

Finish my degree(s)? Epidemiology, Pathobiology and Microbiology....*sigh*

Then I'll be DoctorDoctorDoctorGoose!

--Make SO many improvements to my chicken coop.....

--buy a ranch. Preferably something with 40 acres or so.

--Build another chicken coop; prettier this time.

--Build a pole barn on my ranch

--Buy some nice dressage horses (and learn how to ride dressage, instead of just western. Bleh)

--Be self-sufficient (of course, that would preceed most of the above goals!)

--Generally, become a nicer, kinder, gentler person, etc. Meh.

--Oh! And hopefully get married and have a few kids, but....that's not likely in the next century...we'll see....

Southern28Chick, I read a lot of women's magazines that have articles about goals, careers, life improvement, etc. and I always manage to ignore them. But you started this thread, and for some reason I can't ignore the topic when it's BYC related. So for two days I've been feeling so inadequate because I don't have any goals. I'm 46 with two exceedingly boring low-level jobs in an area with not a lot of possibilities.

BUT, here's what I've come up with as a life goal - ta dah - I'd really like to rise above the chronic depression I've had since I was a kid. How's that! Pretty ambitious huh?

In the meantime, I've got my wonderful DH, five cutie chickens, two loving cats, my physical health, and job security (which I'm not sure if that's a good thing) lol. In the meantime, I'll make my melt & pour glycerin soap and admire those who can do the lye soaps! Southern28, you go girl!

--Travel around and educate Christians and Homeschool groups about Asperger Syndrome and how to help people with it.

--Encourage parents to homeschool their children on the autism spectrum, and encourage those already doing so.

--Earn a money writing about various autism issues and other things.

--Write a book.

--Own my own business-preferably several small ones.

--Become financially independent.

--Become a wife and mother.

--Own my own piece of land.

--Breed endangered breeds of poultry and livestock.

--Become as self-sufficient as possible.

And while I'm working towards those dreams, strive to be more like my Lord and savior and be a blessing and not a curse to those around me.
