I honestly don't think it's rabid, though I told her to make sure she tells the F&G people that she thought it was (which she already had). It has been hanging around her place for quite a few months, and even has cubs nearby that my friend sees as well. Momma bobcat is teaching the babies to hunt, so that doesn't help either. I think it is mainly a case of the bobcat losing her fear of humans. If it had rabies I would think it would have shown obvious signs over the past few months.
She just recently got a gun but said she's only 'got' one possum so far. I told her to get a big cage and paint it black, then use a goose as 'bait'. The cat will be able to see the goose but not the cage until it is close. Hopefully, my friend is a good enough shot to get it once it's that close.
