NOW- that being said, I constantly overuse "THAT". Also, I am the WORST proof-reader when it comes to the internet---even though I have an English degree.

I suspect it has to do with how many of us tend to type in the vernacular. We write what we would say, because we are comfortable here, and figure, "they know what I am trying to say."

Function over form?

HOWEVER-

I hatehatehate it when the DH says "height", because he says "heigthhhhhh" like you would say "width" or "length". I actually had to look it up for him. Now he does it to bug me.

ANOTHER ONE:

Decimate means to destroy 10% of something. NOT ALL of something. The correct word would then be "obliterate". Unfortunately, it has been mis-used so often lately, the dictionary has expanded the definition. Such is the nature of language, to change with culture & society.

Still, it can bug me.
