I know they both get the green wings, but the males ALWAYS get it much earlier then the females..

pretty green wings?? that's the spectrum, male and female have it. im pretty sure thats what its called anyway.

Speculum feathers aren't an indication of gender http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speculum_feathers, however, that pretty green head is a dead giveaway. Sexing is never 100% but it's not often that you get the wrong gender when ordering from a hatchery.

He still has a slight duckling peep, but its getting more and more raspier...

Contact the hatchery and tell them. I doubt that they will send you a single replacement but they should give you a credit.

The hatcheries don't guarantee 100% on the sexing, but with so few ducks, your unexpected male is probably over the % guarantee.

The green wings don't mean anything, but the green head sure does.

No malicious intent form the hatchery. Vent sexing isn't 100%.

Its really no big deal... I dont want to cause any trouble. Its not really their fault. I just wanted two hens, I still love my two rouens just as much, and they are a cute little pair!

I ordered 3 WH females this spring from Metzers. Well. I thought one of them was a male, but as it turns out I DID get 3 females as ordered. The one in question just has some genetic "flaws". Just wait and see.

Here is my "girls" pix (note the one in the middle) that's the one I thought was a male, but is laying eggs like the rest!
