And takes your birds. I gave my friend 12 chickens and they are getting them taken away from animal control. Its not a bad thing the water was always frozen ext. But i think it was because the neightbors were calling in about the roos. anways i dont feel bad they were awful owners. But what happens to the birds?

Donno about your area, but when we went to the pound years ago to pick out Mattie they had a couple of chickens (both roos if memory serves) in a separate fenced in area. My guess would be that they were strays, I've seen plenty of those over the years... no clue what they did with them though. I don't recall a form for adopting fowl, only dog or cat... maybe they knew a farmer in nearby Kenn/Mans that would want them? Guess you could always call and ask.

I would think it is different from one shelter to the next if it is a no kill shelter I would assume they would be put up for adoption. I am assuming that where she lives roosters are not allowed because unless it is against city policy/law I dont see why animal control would be taking them. If it is a noise issue they would just be taking the roosters or making her get rid of them. If she lives in a area where livestock is allowed than the neighbor can complain all they want but there is not much they can do if you dont want to hear livestock dont live in areas where it is allowed. But animal control would only be involved if there was neglect if it was just a noise issue it would be sheriff that would notify here. If animal control responses to every loud dog complaint they would be out day and night.

They are usually put up for adoption, although sometimes they are placed in foster situtations.

Ours in Fairbanks places ads on craigs list to help adopt/place them.

Curious to what happens to the owners. Are they arrested? In some states no water is cruelty and a felony.
