What happens when you can't give bread starter away....

My sister did this and sent a starter to me and to my other sis - who I was staying with! We had more starter than you could shake a stick at! I was begging people to take it. I made my mother take it to her Lenten group. It's like an insane chain letter! You keep sending it out and it keeps coming back. I made 4 loaves and we had 8 bags. We ended up just pitching it because we forgot to add the flour on day 6 and then it started to smell weird.

I know you can find the recipe on the web.

I posted the starter along with the curing recipes in an earlier post (#8) a sec ago.

Yep this stuff spreads like fleas.

EllyMae,

I am in your county EVERY day. I work for Duke out of the Shelby/Gastonia offices.

I can't keep enough starter here to give everyone! Miss Prissy sent me her starter, I've been feeding and baking and giving away, but hardly have enough to keep baking with. I wish I had too much!

HAHAHAHA! Do not bring starter here!! I have a recipe for it and tons of recipes to make. I very rarely use it because it's like mice, once you feed it, it never goes away!

You can use any type of Instant pudding, it does not have to be Vanilla. The cookies and cream is great and if you choose chocolate, you need to leave out the cinnamon.

We used vanilla, chocolate, butterscotch puddings. We made a few loaves with chocolate and cinnamon and I liked them myself. I've ate enough of this stuff over the past few days though. Don't think I'll 'need' any more for a few weeks. Stuff sure is good, but it's like a Lay's Potato Chip... can't eat just one.
