What has been the best (life) advice anyone has ever given you?

My grandma who went through the depression: This too shall pass.

My dad: If you want to figure out what's going on, follow the money.

I've amended that to follow the money, if you can.
 
I forgot this one from a plaque at my G-ma's house.

Don't get mad, get even. Live long enough to be a burden to your children!

Carrying hatred around for someone is like drinking poison... hoping that they die!

From one of my room mates in college:

"Poop, or get off the pot."

From my grandmother.

"You can make more money in 10 minutes across the altar than you can make in a lifetime"

... it worked for my wife.
