I am wanting to place an order for chicks. I went to Cackle Hatchery but they only have males in some of the breeds until after the end of May. I would really like to get my order in now and get them asap.

Can you suggest some other Hatcheries?

Sorry if this ? is already here on the board somewhere. I couldn't find it.

    Thanks,
    Jodie

I got mine from Estes Hatchery. I was pleased. I got RIR and White Leghorns.

I have heard lots of good things about Murray McMurray. When I'm ready for 25 more chicks that is where I will go.

I guess it all depends on where you can find the breeds that you are wanting. I looked at Ideal, Murray McMurray, and Cackle. It sounds like people here have been pleased with everyone of those hatcheries. Everyone EXCEPT Cackle was out of the pullets in the breed I want until after May. I still have to wait until mid-May to get the ones from Cackle, but I guess that will just give me more time to keep building the chicken castle. Did I say castle?!?! OOPS! I mean coop [IMG] Please don't mention that I said "castle" to my DH! [IMG]

I got my chicks from Ideal and they have all been healthy. I did lose most of my first shipment but that was the weathers fault. My second shipment arrived alive and well and is still going strong. Waiting on my third shipment which should be here around the 20th of this month. Wondeful people and great customer service.
But I bet if you look around you will find that most of your major hatcheries are listed somewhere here and you will find glowing reports from some and disgruntled reports from other.
Find the breeds you want and order from the hatchery that has them.
