What have you repurposed while building ?

Pics
The exterior walls are slab leftovers from a local sawmill.
The dimensional lumber was leftover from my garage.
Windows were from a nearby remodel.
Also have a full light steel entry door that I have to hang. That's going to be a tough job to get it plumb.

PS I've done all of this with no help from any other person.

Ok, I officially want to live in your coop.

I love the back of the TV thing. That’s super creative! On the Brody box are those the tiles on top they kind of look like terra-cotta pipe split in half
They are actually gorgeous antique tiles that are used all over the south of France and Spain. Our main buildings (sadly) have a different style but these 'canal' tiles were made at the time by men forming them over thier legs. in our first house when we were doing the roof we found one with a man that obviously had bendy legs (rickets?) from at least 200 years before before - just amazing. We have a little stash that we found in one of our barns so that is what I used for the broody coop!

The only thing i have seen on this thread that i cringe about is that plastic hay twine. Had a new momma cow somehow find a vet old piece and got it wrapped above her hoof. She had one week old calf and it swelled up. This twine had been there in the dirt for 10 years before i bought the place. I had to rig a catch and hold proceedure to cut it off. I still find that twine occasionally showing up in the muddy times. I have never used that color and have owned this place 17 years. All baling twine on my hay is immediately removed when feeding and either burned or put in a dumpster. Animals, mowers, and tillers seem to find that stuff easily.

Mine gets stored in a coffee container in the shed. I always fear the goats will eat it because while they eat pretty much anything and it will bind up in their stomach. True the stuff is simply amazing because of its strength and how small it is but definitely have to watch where it ends up. I found so many random things that washed up in my yard that I know weren’t there when I moved in

You around any Civil War battle activity? Might pay you to invest in a good metal detector.

The only thing my county has is the civil war memorabilia. That’s the only reason people come to the county I live in. I live kind of out there away from all the battlefields in such but trust me anything valuable that is left to be found in the county has been found. People always searching for that stuff. Seems like a lot of stuff here is named after general lee. Are used to live in lees headquarters Neighborhood when I was a child. Right across the street was lees hill And so many names after the Civil War. Battlefield school Battlefield Park battlefield library and so on and so on. Stonewall Jackson shrine only about 15 miles from me
