What heat lamp bulb to use?

I have heard the dangers of Teflon but not sure how to recognize it. Do either of these heat lamp bulbs look okay to use? I have also read that 250 watt can be too hot, but the only heat lamp bulbs available that are red are 250. The chicks are arriving tomorrow and this is the last matter I need to take care of.

I do not have permission to access your links, but if it's "Producer's Pride" and for poultry, it's definitely not Teflon coated.

I normally use a Brinsea brooder plate, but it's in use for other chicks. I use the smaller red ones sometimes, but decided to try reptile infrared bulbs this hatch. I'm loving them!

I have lots of spare bulbs of the first type you show, they're fine. And if the chicks get too hot, you can raise the bulb to make it further away from the chicks. I had them in a bathtub in the house for a few days, and hung the bulb on a bar that went the length of the tub. I could easily raise/lower the lamp, and I had it on a timer because the room got too hot with the bulb on all the time (small bathroom).

Either of those would be fine. You want to make sure the socket you put it in can handle the 250 w.

(You would find the Teflon coated ones for keeping food warm. More likely in a restaurant supply store.)

There are 2 different red heat bulbs made by ZooMed that are labeled bird safe and uncoated. In the reptile section at pet stores. 40-150 watt options I believe. They have a bunch but I only get the ones labeled for birds, it's right on the box.

definitely check out the Mother Heating Pad (MHP) option if you haven't already, it's my favorite so far!
