Sorry for bothering the many quail people on this forum with my easy to answer questions... but I have yet another question to ask, so I'm searching the web to find jumbo Japanese Quail and I only find the same two colors the Texas A&M and the Jumbo brown. Isn't there any other colors for the jumbo' s. I see that the normal sized ones have like 12 different colors, what's up with that?!

Genetics genetics genetics. Some other color phases can bred larger but none are capable of attaining the size of the pharaoh or A&M color phases. Keep in mind there is no real genetic difference between jumbo brown and jumbo white. All of the other color phases are a result of mutations and because of their specific genetics cant be bred to the same size as true jumbos. Tibetan/rosetta tuxedos can be bred up to 12+ ounces, so can golden speckled but most other colors cant be. If you notice the color phases i mentioned be capable of near jumbo size (tibetan tux/golden speck) are also color phases that are generated by a jumbo brown or jumbo white outcross.

Well why couldn't they create the same mutations the same way they made them just with larger size. I mean, I don't mind the browns or A&M colors, I just like variety

Genetics cant just be freely manipulated. If you think those of us that understand them are doing a poor job changing them youre welcome to do yourself what we havent been able to accomplish in 40 years. Shouldnt take you long at all.

Well anyway, I'm looking for jumbo browns, so if anyone has any for sale it would be helpful.(I'm looking for adults or juveniles)
