My brothers spent one summer working for a local canning company. Ritters has since gone out of business but had been a pretty big company. Ketchup, baked beans, and apples were just a few things that they canned.
Ya'll know that where you've got a lot of produce in storage there is a good chance of some kind of critter getting there (especially with doors opening and closing as truckloads of new produce come in) My brothers described to me the mice and rats that were in there that would occassionaly get caught in the slicer-dicers. Plus snakes that came in to eat the rats and mice.
And this didn't include the "droppings" that made it into the mix.
Don't ask about Campbell's Tomato Soup................
