What if Chicks eat Sevin??

anyone ever had a bad flea problem ,, would seven dust help with that ,, I am begenning to have a problem with them , I currently have more pens than chickens so I'm moving the chickens out and spraying the pen out with a garden hose sprayer with enforcer flea spray , spraying every 3 days for a total of 12 days then moving the chickens back in after a 2 day waite , still have problem . what would kill them , someone told me to dust with white lime ?????

Sevin or Carbyl was found to be the cause of thin eggshells and mortality in bluebirds & swallows in past decades ( they nest in boxes & trees around farm fields). I always cringe when people talk about dusting their poultry with Sevin. I despise the stuff, but that is just me. It appears people use it with no obvious effects on their chickens. I just stay away from all chemicals if possible.

My mother (85) said lots of folks used to use wood ashes in their dusting areas. Claims it will keep lice, etc. under control and cause no significant problems other than an occasional sneezing fit amongst the girls. I'm planning to add some this week. Just my .02.

I'm not saying not use sevin. But I will let you know it's banned in Ontario Canada. It's killing the honey bees

But If I get potoatoe bugs this year, I'm sure gonna miss it. We stocked up before the ban started (to use sparinly) But it is banned for a reason... btw "golf coureses are aloud to use it ... grrr... that annoyes me

Not worried about the honey bees.

And because the government bans something doesn't necessarily mean its bad. They've gone back and forth for years about eggs being healthy or not healthy.

I really like the bees... Not only do farmers feed cites. But bees pollinate are food. kind've important, unles we what all GMO food. I would like the bees please. Oh when did the govnerment ban eggs? I must've missed that, my bad..
