What in the world are these big girls doing in our bathroom!

Dixie was supposed to be a Barred Rock, but she looks like a bantam Golden Cuckoo Marans with yellow legs - and light colored eggs instead of dark brown ones. Her personality is just like our BR chick's, very sweet and friendly and adventurous. Whatever she is, I wish I had 12 more just like her! She's missing some feathers on her head due to pecking order issues.

I feel your pain. I have 11 five week old chicks in a galvanized tub in my bathroom. The coop I ordered on-line was supposed to arrive 3 weeks ago. URG! Needless to say, if it doesn't come by tomorrow, I will have to improvise something else on Wednesday. One of my chicks is blind and is getting trampled when the mini flock decide to play, keep away the meal worm. She is surprisingly resilient though. Also, hauling all 11 in and out for outside playtime is getting to be a chore. Wish me luck on delivery tomorrow.

Good luck indeed! And good luck to your little blind chick! I don't even like to think about how old ours are. We're having some sudden cold weather and our little ones aren't at all acclimated to it. They'll be in the bathroom a few more days at least. It's not too bad to slap a small coop together. We built our first coop out of old pallet boards, and the new - hopefully temporary - coop is built out of scrap 2 x 4s with a hardware cloth/shavings floor. Almost done with it.

Anyway! Hope your kewl new coop comes tomorrow!

Funny If all the new chicken (or new coop) ppl got together they would have one thing in common; they all have small scabs up their arms and on thier hands. SURE sign of hardware cloth struggles
