What in the world did I just rescue/adopt from the cold snowy winter

Very cute chick! Hopefully mama will keep chickie warm now. If she doesn't sit on him you might put a light over them.

I've been watching them closely and she's been sitting and calling for him to get under her, which he's happy to do. He's so cute when he shoves into her feathers. They do their regular cycle of brood-eat-brood-eat, and they are making lots of happy chattery noises.

Frightful still hasn't made the least attempt to jump out of her apartment-brooder (but gets covered when no one is keeping a loose eye/ear on them)
