What in the world is inside of this egg?

My hens stopped laying eggs about a month ago. Yesterday, I found a very large egg in the coop. When I cracked it open, there was a long, whitish, rubbery piece inside. I broke it apart to see what was inside. It was full of rubbery foul-smelling tissue. Does anyone know what this is?

Looks like you found a lash egg inside a normal egg. That wrinkly bit is a rubbery eggshell, probably got stuck inside the body, and the other tissues are the resulting immune response to try to rid the body of it all, maybe included an infection - and it got trapped inside the next egg. Gross but kinda cool!

Could be a one-time thing, but could be more serious; just keep an eye on that hen, if you know which one laid it.
