From time to time I notice them scrape their beaks left to right on something. Why do they do that? Is it to clean their beak, leave a scent or show off? Or something else?

I think it also helps in keeping their beaks trim. Almost like we file our nails.

Simply cleaning something off their beaks. They will use what ever is handy, including you.

My girls love to eat yogurt, then they all come to me and use my pants legs to clean the goop off their beaks.

Oh, mine do that ALL the time, whenever I give them a juicy treat. It's just htem wiping their beaks. Would you like tomato juice all over your mouth! :)

Every type of bird I've ever had has wiped their dirty beak on me. I guess they like to look their best!

It's funny when mine wipe their beaks on wood or cement because it sounds like their sharpening a knife!

All my birds do it when they are eating something rather messy. They do it on me, on each other and on anything they can find that doesn't stick to whatever they are trying to wipe off

I think it's cute. My BR Dixie will do it when I offer her a napkin. :gig
