What is a blood ring?

Can someone explain to me what exactly a blood ring is, what causes it & what it means??

It Is: (Visually) a red ring seen around the middle or top of the egg when candling.
It Means: The baby inside is dead.
Its Caused By: Death in any way, like heating, ventilation, and humidity errors, or it wasn't turned enough. There are many ways for a baby to die.

No not always and it's usually seen in early develpoment deaths.

Sometimes this ring may be black or blue-green. From what I read this can indicate that bacteria infiltrated the shell and killed the chick or decomposing the chick. A trend like this in many eggs means you should've cleaned your incubator or eggs.
