What is a good price for live quail?

Location really matters. Check to see if there is anyone selling them on your local craigslist to see how much they're selling for in your area. Otherwise, do some basic calculation on how much you've spent on feed, incubation, etc, and figure you need at least that much per bird. Hens are generally worth close to twice as much as roos.

I like the idea of hatching to order. Do you mind if I ask how you advertise?
I put a flyer on the bulletin board at the feed store and I have a small local radio station that has an hour show in the evening and on saturdays where you can call in to sell, or barter any items you want, it’s mostly furniture, vehicles, animals and farm equipment but I’ll call in there if I know I’ll have a mess of eggs in a few weeks, and other local connections I can usually find someone when I have full breedin pens and am set up to produce enough hatching eggs I’ll reach out to a few people and tell them to mention that I’ll have a couple hatches this month or whatever the case may be.. done this for 15 years with produce, chickens, eggs and rabbits too..

So I have someone who would like to buy some quail from me. I was just wondering for those of you who sell live adult quail to people what is a fair price per female and a fair price per male. I know it depends on the buyer but was wondering what price I should stay above if I wanted to make profit or something. Thank you for the help.
Here in spain in the market we used to pay 2,5$ per adult quail or 0,9$ per baby quail until they were forbidden last year...

If they are mature and laying hens $10 standard and $12 jumbo, mature roosters $8 each.. I sell day old straight run chicks for $3 each up to 1 week old.. then $5 each straight run chick over a week old upto 3rd week, then 3-5+ week old sexable chicks are $8 each. I usually do hatches for people so it’s a straight fee per number of eggs hatched.. very seldom do I have chicks longer than a week not spoken for.. I have many local outlets I can call and they will gladly take them if not spoken for..
What do you mean by outlets? I am new to Quale breeding.

Location could have an influence as well. Here in Hawaii, the standard price ranges seem to be:
  • 2-4$/ea for hatching eggs
  • 10-12$/ea for day old chick, unsexed
  • 10$ for Male at point of maturity
  • 20$ for Hen at point of lay
Lots of people raise them in their backyards here. They just don't advertise or sell them. At the start of Covid, I think I paid $10 each for hatching eggs and had them shipped interisland. I waited a long time in the queue to be sent any, and paid the postage too. It was probably because I was a newbie, but only 8 of 32 eggs hatched. Still, it was enough until I found other people selling quail on Oahu. I totally agree that the market price right now is what you are saying. Check Craigslist in your area, that's usually the best place to find both breeders and the prices.
