What is going on with this egg?

I just went and did a thorough look and feel of the egg. It is strangely much harder like a build up of the shell. This shell is very thick and hard and perfect except for the raised area and bumps which do look like what I would think calcium deposits look like. But what do I know? Ha!

I am just guessing it is calcium build up which in my opinion is a good sign that your girls are getting a enough calcium.

Possibly is a “body check” egg where the bird’s body recalcifies a possible soft spot or crack. Pretty amazing.

That was very helpful thank you. Maybe she just ate a lot of of the oyster shell and had a lot of calcium to deposit. It is still a pretty egg.
