If you got her from a pet store, she probably is just a poor quality purebred. Most pet stores get their puppies from puppy mills, and they could care less about the quality of the dogs they breed.

Well I googled the kennel name and visited the website. Under puppies for sale I think I saw a picture of your dog as a puppy and she was asking $900.00 for her. I did notice that quite a few of her pups were showing a unusal amount of white around the head. But then again I am not totally familar with the breed standards for St. Bernards.

Also I did notice that she had one consumer complaint about her for selling a Newfoundland puppy that had problems.

So she may be a purebred, but just not a show puppy prospect.

If you are really concerned you can write to the AKC and see if they have any complaints about her.

thanks!..i did the same tonight!...and i also noticed one that resembled my Daisy....and yes..i also noticed that alot of them had no masks!..strange!...espically under her puppies for sale now.....i didnt see the complaint about the Newfoundland pup...what was the problem?...it just makes me worry about her...i think i will write the AKC..just to be safe about potential health problems...thanks FrChuck!

I say DNA test! that is what I asked for from my DH this xmas for my dog! Working at an animal shelter I can tell you that papers don't mean anything. I can get papers for my dog online. Puppy store dogs are usually 90% puppymill dogs. They are very often mixed too. You should see some of the owner relinq. "pure bred" dogs from pet stores that we get in at our shelter! We laugh and laugh because they are so obviously not pure. But really, why must we have a pure bred dog? You love her to death anyway. It's really no big deal, in fact it might be better for her health in the long run if she's mixed. The pure Saints usually have some genetic health issues. BTW she looks like a SPRINGER spaniel mix to me. that would explain her smaller stature. She's cute!
