Looks like she’s protecting the nest, while getting ready to sit on another clutch.

It almost looks as if she’s protecting her nest from you. That is the sound my girls make when I lift them off the nest, or when a broody is getting kicked out.

Thanks Kathrine, that’s interesting. I hope she doesn’t feel threatened by me. She’s always friendly. I wasn’t sure if she wanted more chicks or something completely different. Maybe the laying flat is part of that?

it may also be worth pointing out that I go in the coop several times a day and the only time she does this is in the morning when I’m cleaning.

I think that is just a broody obsessive.

definitely obsessive. Do you think she will immediately want more? The behaviour started well before she went broody. With the running over and laying flat making noises

maybe it’s that but when she goes broody she sit and fluffs up. This is flat with her neck stretching out along the ground.
