What is my little hen doing?

welcome-byc.gif

My hens do this all the time. My birds roost on shelves, my coop is an old converted greenhouse. So they don't really roost, they're all on a shelf. My main roo usually has 2-4 ladies with various parts of their body under him, and then it just goes from there.

That's fun to know....I knew chickens could do the "chicken pile," but I've only seen it in my broody hens with their chicks and with their older grown children until the kids integrate into the flock fully...funny how my grown hens just don't seem to do it.

They are either very well adjusted on their roosts or simply really anti-social (nobody crowd's my space!)

I have seen my hens try the 3 in a nest box dog pile...that one is funny too....but NOBODY's happy about it.

Chickens are fun and funny.

Thanks to everyone for all your replies. Now all 3 of the hens are vying for space under Zebra. And she is so good-natured about it! Now that they're roostung they shove her off the roost unintentionally with the commotion of it all. She just hops back up & the scramble starts anew. So funny!
