What is Sharing?

Every few days I give the flock some corn as a treat and for enrichment. With nothing growing, it gives them a chance to scratch around in the (dead) grass and snow. Apparently, one of my girls decided she was to get the lion's share!

"Oh hallo, o great bearer of foods!"


"Let me take a taste, you know...to check for poison and all. I'm just selfless like that!"



"Ohm nom nom"


"HELLO!? CAN WE HAVE SOME TOO!?"


"What? You want MOI to share?! No way!"


And so shooed her off the deck railing and shared with the flock. She then activated her camouflage abilities.

My hen Gloria does that too... she will run around and try to hoard all the food.... then she'll get tired and give up and just give all the hens her famous 'Gloria eye' as they eat HER food.

I have to say, she is my favorite. She is a very sweet girl. And I love her cuckoo coloring too! It is hard to see in the pictures, but she has a tiny pair of tufts, one on each side of her face. So she is a nice little tufted and rumpless girl!
