I still think she is trans gendered or something. Her feathers say boy...but if she is laying then she must have the equipment. I think it is more genetic anomoly then any cross breed. Your other birds are beautiful BTW

Yeah i know what you mean i seen the hackle feathers but i was so sure i read in her first post she lays eggs....I was like...hm.

toshi & SD - Yes, the girl equipment works fine for her, even if she doesn't look the part. Poor Mama. I covered her eyes and ears so she wasn't offended by her not being beautiful.

But thank you for the compliment. They are so much fun. I managed to name another pullet yesterday. Chatty Cathy... that girl NEVER shuts up. Mama simply squeaks real quietly. She's a funny bird and we love her.

That is all that matters. I am sure she is well loved and like you said you can tell them apart that way I have a Light Brahma that is a "Chatty Cathy" as well and she has the most obnoxious "egg song" you would think she was laying a triple yolker and ironically she is my least productive...lays a medium egg about every 3 days haha They are great birds and I love them too

Now if I could only find a roo like yours I would be a happy camper.

Thanks SD! I hand fed Mama a grape this morning, first time I've gotten her to do it, but she won't do it if others are around. She's silly that way. I was so proud of her for being SO BRAVE! haha Funny you have a Chatty Cathy, too. They are very vocal, I had no idea. I just wished I knew what all their sounds meant. They seem happy, so I'm gonna guess they're happy sounds and not upset ones. Even Bob makes happy content sounds.

I don't have one,yet. I have a chick who I think is a roo but his feet feathers are coming in grey and he is almost spotted on his body so I don't think I will want to use him for his intended purpose as my girl's coloring is pretty good for hatchery birds but time will tell he is still pretty young. I had a buff brahma / GL cochin cross that I loved but he took after my husband one day and that was the end of him

Awww, sorry to hear about the rooster your husband dispatched. Bummer. Maybe your chick will fool ya. We plan to hatch some of our eggs and might have a roo available later this summer if that chick doesn't pan out.
