What is the best breed that will grow its population the quickest?

I'm not sure with 50 acres if you can support 100 birds like you plan without feeding them yourself at least partway

I grow sunflowers, milo/sorghum, red wrigglers and will be starting black soldier flys before I get my birds. Also, I am developing a food forest filled with berries, fruits, perreniel greens... the goal is to basically farm as much productivity to keep the chickens healthy and well fed.

I personally work with a bunch of EEs, and have been crossing them with a Freedom ranger Roo with some nice results. Ive been getting larger birds that still lay well, more stuck up and protective, and have been broodier than their mothers. I have 2 of them that have gone broody twice this year already.

I like this approach. EEs again are great all purpose. Australorp for the extra likeable traits.

May I also recommend looking at a Freedom Ranger/RIR/ or even a type of Game styled bird like the Asil? (For the roosters)

Chickens cannot live without certain vitamins though. Are you going to feed a commercial feed? If not, you may want to own something...more wild. Like jungle fowl, which may not meet the meat size.

I also like my calico Princess x bantams cochin/standard Ameraucana hen I have. She's a big bird. But not sure her rate of lay and she has yet to go broody. I think she lays decent though because of her background.

This is so cool

I’ve just started really, but I plan to make it pretty cool over time. I’m also looking into duck weed for my small pond. Anything to supplement the feed. The goal is free chickens and eggs.

This was my breeding roster earlier this year. Its currently different now, but overall, who says you can't have multiple breeds to work with? Why not get a little bit of everything?

Also to note, the middle EEs father was the Freedom ranger at the top right. Much bigger EEs
