What is the best filtering equipment for a 500L duck pond

Hi!
As the thread name states, I am wondering what the best form of filtering my 500L duck pond. It cheaper the better. I only have 2 ducks and I'm using a kiddie pool that I picked up for €15. It looks great when I clean it out and refil it with fresh clear water but that turns to this this green 'sludge' in a matter of hours! Id prefer a way to re-use the water rather than dumping and refilling as I live in a suburban home and I'd end up water-logging my garden every time that I empty the pool.

I have 3 call ducks, my husbond has made me a small pond with a fish pond pump, with a home made filtion unit out side the pond with awater fall on it it does the job but i still have to clean it out every day but i don't have to empty out the pond which is alot better. the fillrtion box we found on youtub under home made filltions pumps for ponds. i hope this will help.

A friend of mine set up an old bathtub so the bottom of it is about even with the top of her pond. She uses a small fountain pump to pump the water up to the tub, then a gravity feed pipe back to the pond. The tub is full of cattails and water hyacinth and duckweed. The water flow is a slow trickle. The water goes in at one end of the tub and out the other. The plants in the tub filter and clean the water. She did have to fence the tub off from the ducks, tho or of course they would eat all the plants. This set up keeps the water pretty clean

That sounds great. I'm going to look into ways of doing this soon because I am sick of having to water-log my garden and get splashed in the face by this 'muddy water' regularly.

We put in a major yard project for our Pekin's several months ago ... we have 650 gallons so quite a bit larger than yours but take a look at the pictures from our duck pond build (just search our name). The babies love it and while it is not the most pleasant thing to clean the filters every week it is well worth it. Happy Holiday's!
